We pulled up next to this vintage Volkswagen Bus. Standing in front of it was a hauli with shoulder-length, sun-bleached hair who was as brown as a coconut.

Making Plans

Brady met me at the airport with a purple lei, scaring off the two guys from Minnesota that I'd spent the last 6 hours with. Sweet guys really, kept offering to buy me drinks and food. They drank 10 mini bottles a piece on the plane. Going to the Pro-Bowl on Sunday.

When we got back to the hotel, Brady had all of these brochures waiting. Wow, there sure is a lot to do. He bought tickets to the Polynesian Cultural Center for Saturday. I really want to go whale watching. And spend some time at Pearl Harbor. I'll save diving with the sharks and the helicopter ride for next time when we bring the kiddos.

System Shock

I never thought I'd say it, but I kinda miss Vegas.  So tired of being cold!!  Oh, and the worst part, by the time I got the photo ready and uploaded and as I'm typing this post, it's dropped to 29* outside.  Winter is not my friend.

Back to the Snow

Not too shabby for shooting while driving when I can't see it to frame it cuz my screen is having issues.  I was trying to get the colors from the sunset, but it's difficult at 75 mph. Canon is going in for repair tomorrow.  I'll miss you, Canon.

Heading back to Hell-sinore tomorrow morning.  Perhaps I should start packing?  I'm the worst house guest ever. But at least I keep it all hidden back behind the bed so the untrained eye can't see it. Don't want to go home, it's cold there. But kinda don't want to stay here either, but at least it's warm . . er.  So tired of feeling like I don't belong.

Book Group

Book Group combines two of my favorite things...reading and talking. The group that Brady and I are in right now is especially interesting because it is made up of both men and women. This adds variety when it comes to reading material and also points of view. I love it and am happy to add Sara's Key to my shelf this month.

Nose Bleed

For Christmas, my niece Jourdan got tickets to a Jazz game for my parents and me and her to go with them.  My dad has never been to a game.  Our tickets were half way up in the upper bowl, but we still had a good time.  The Jazz totally smashed the Cavs.

Forgive me . . but you're betting a bit of a photo essay today, rather than just a picture.

About half way through the first quarter this guy down below stood up in his Cavs jersey with a big sign that said "Cavs Rock" on one side and "Jazz Sucks" on the other.  And then they showed him on the jumbo tron for everyone to boo.  A little while later the Jazz Bear showed up below him with a bunch of cans of silly string and totally attacked him.  Then after that, he showed up with this massive "I'm A Loser" sign.  And stood behind the guy for a couple of minutes waiting for them to show it on the jumbo tron again.  I couldn't quite tell what happened but it looked like the bear tripped on the steps and accidentally dropped the sign, hitting the guy in the head.

The dropped sign kinda ticked off the Cavs fan and he got all ticked and chased the Bear out onto the court.  Security grabbed him but he broke free and went after him again.  They got in quite a fight and if you look close you can see the guys jersey is torn.  Then they dragged him out of the arena and ejected him from the game.  I don't know if it was staged or not, but it cracked us all up.

This is the only picture I took of us, but at least I got one.

Urban Beauty

I can see the lights of this refinery at night. (I had to drive a little way to get a close up shot.) Someone asked if it bothered me to have it as part of the view. It doesn't. I grew up in the city. There were a couple of places like this that I used to love as a kid. The machinery and lights have always seemed mysterious and beautiful to me. My own kids used to think that dragons lived at the refinery. Hence the puffs of steam.

Apparently my potted silk mimosa tree didn't get the memo telling him that it's January and he should be hibernating.  Poor confused thing. Obviously, it's been growing for a while.  Hopefully the longer than natural growing season will mean lost of spring pink puff ball blossoms!

Babysitting

My niece brought her two kids up this afternoon for us to watch while she went to a meeting.  This boy is adorable, but he's as bad as my dog.  He saw the lens, and wanted to lick it. This is about the only shot I could get where he wasn't out of focus or reaching for the lens.

It was fun to have her live close by for several months this year. Time flew by and She's off again. I miss her so much today. Some day we'll live in the same state again. But for now, FB will have to do.

I went outside with the dogs for about three minutes this morning - that's about all I could take before I couldn't feel my fingers anymore.  And none of them are really amazing, but they're all slightly funny - so you get all three.

Winter in Utah brings a lot of ice. The love/hate relationship is inevitable. I hate it on the roads and sidewalks but I love it clinging from eaves and ledges.

There's yet another storm rolling in so the wood piles have been stacked as high as possible.  However, since the last storm, we haven't gotten above about 28* so the majority of the snow from the last storm still hasn't melted.
